Hop aboard a boat in Poole for a leisurely cruise around Europe's largest natural harbour towards Swanage, and take in the seaside sights, wildlife and scenery before a steam train trip past a famous castle with this Poole Sea Train Adventure for Two. With a human history dating back to 295 BC, Poole harbour has long been an important part of Britain, from Iron Age exploration and settlement through to Roman invasion, new world trading and even the formation of the Scouting movement on Brownsea Island. You'll pass through the harbour and after an hour on the open sea you'll find yourself in Swanage for the second half of your Dorset adventure. Just 10 minutes' walk from the Swanage pier is Swanage Railway Station, where a real steam train will be waiting to take you back in time to 1885 ' or at least to Corfe. You'll pass by the never-conquered 11th century castle as well as plenty of old pubs on your 20 minute journey, with plenty of photo opportunities for you to make a memory that'll last forever too. Once you're back in Swanage, it's back on the boat for your 1 hour return journey to Poole.
Need to Know
On arrival at Poole Quay you'll head for the red and white City Cruises kiosk to swap your vouchers for cruise tickets to Swanage. The staff at the kiosk will let you know when the next departures are so you can plan your time in Poole, and when it's time to head off you'll clamber aboard the boat, take a seat above or below deck, and settle in for an intriguing 1 hour cruise to Swanage. Once there, you'll jump on a steam train for a return trip to Corfe Castle, before heading back to Poole aboard another cruise boat. Please note no food is included in this experience, but you'll have plenty of time to stop in Swanage or at the castle for a bite to eat (or enjoy a packed lunch on the cruise).
